New Features Found In Firmware 2.2

Mac Rumors has revealed some interesting new features that could be included in the next iPhone firmware update.

The most exciting feature is the Google Street View for the Google Map application. With this feature, iPhone users will be able to view 360 degree panoramic view with street level photographs of select cities within the Google Maps application. Google had demoed this feature in their soon to be released Android phone - G1.

Also, there is an inclusion of Japanese icons known as emoji. They’re cutesy, and hugely popular in the Far East. It’s likely Apple included them to chivvy along sales in Japan. There are 461 emoji characters in total, used to liven up sentences, or send soppy un-written messages to friends.

Apple has not yet announced when the iPhone 2.2 firmware will be available.
