Your Unlimited Data Plan Will Be Throttled By AT&T – It Is Official

On Thursday AT&T will put limits on their Unlimited Data plan that slows speeds for 3G and 4G customers who exceed 3GB in a billing cycle and caps 4G LTE customers at 5GB. The carrier has explained the move on a support page, as it said: “you will still be able to use as much data as you want. That won’t change.”

Before that, AT&T had only slowed the speeds of customers who were in the top 5% of their respective markets, a practice known as throttling. Despite the fact, AT&T insists that 95% of smartphone users will not be throttled. As an AT&T rep says the cause of the change is that “customers had told us that more clarity would be helpful.”

People, who are affected, will receive a text message which explains that their usage is near 3GB (5GB for LTE users). Exceeding that threshold will lead in reduced data speeds, although you will still have the opportunity to email and surf the web. AT&T does not disclose how fast speeds will run for users who have been throttled.

As the carrier was citing the strain on its network wrought by data-hungry iPhones, it has begun throttling data for its top 5% of users last months. The practice was followed by Verizon then. As expected, the move has made riled many AT&T customers, citing the plan’s claim to “unlimited data.”

Despite the fact AT&T’s contract forbids such users from joining in a class-action suit, a person from California sued the company in small claims court last week and received a judgment worth $850.

Hold Style With Style - Ultima

With the goal to create the best possible solution to hold a smartphone in a vehicle, a two-year project is it's final stage, now with a working prototype that creators feel is just about ready to start moving into the manufacturing – meet Ultima by NKMOS- The World's Finest Universal Smartphone Holder/Mount

The most important thing about Ultima is that no matter how often you buy a new smartphone, and even it is other  than an iPhone - there is no need to buy a new holder too - chances are your new phone will just fit, work and look great too!

An Intuitive holding mechanism can easily be considered to be the most thrilling feature of Ultima: to open you press and hold the release button then place your phone in the holder and press in the sides till desired hold. Once you press in the holder it cannot be pushed backwards until the release button has been pressed, even if forced! With this intuitive technology, the need to use any other accessory is completely eliminated.

Ultima has nothing in common with cheap plastic holders that hardly last for several months. Due to the expensive aluminum ingredients and “instinctual” holding design the costs to produce is high, with tooling expenses of $40000+ and then manufacturing, assembly and delivery costs for each unit on top of that, not to mention the huge upfront cost previously spent to get this far. That’s why it’ll cost you $99 at retail but only $85 for Kickstarter backers for a first production run of Ultima in your choice of colors: silver or black. This includes FREE worldwide shipping! There is also a sweet looking limited Kickstarter Green Edition for $125 including FREE shipping that will only be available while the Kickstarter campaign is running.

At least 800 people to pre order for $85 are needed to bring Ultima to market. Once released to the public, 'Ultima' will retail for $99. You can get a pair of different color holders for only $160, again including FREE worldwide shipping – a great chance to give one to a loved one or a friend or maybe even just go halves with a mate and save! Check out Ultima on Facebook to be updated regularly with news, pics and videos.

Some Tips You Need For Better Photography

Even the Apple’s favorite application  is connected to photography . Probably that is enough to be an iPhone camera-lover and even be obsessed with capturing images on your mobile. However iPhone camera is improving from generation to generation.  Thanks to its small, portable, and discreet form, iPhone is now the most popular camera in the world, you are lucky if you got one. That is why you should not miss the chance to document your daily life and keep connected to the practice of photography.

Here are some tips which will help you to improve your shooting style, effectiveness and efficiency.

First of all, you need maximum image quality, so go to Settings and adjust it.

Then discover your go-to shooting application and keep it on your home screen. Great moments are unrepeatable, that is why you need quick access on it.

You need to get comfortable shooting with one hand because sometimes you have to “work” extremely.

Did you know if you tap on different areas of the screen, you will be able to set up lighting and exposure effects?

You can work wonders with some applications! So try your images to be well composed, think creatively while shooting.

But not every application meets all your creative needs. Though, you can create your own style with testing multiple applications.

Capturing patterns and textures is not insane at all because you can use them later as layers in various applications.

You should back up your photos often and keep applications up to date.

As the matter of the fact taking photos and editing them in applications is taxing on the battery, always keep a charger or battery pack handy.

Add/Remove Individual Calendars from Google Sync

Probably you have a lot of different calendars arranged in your Google Calendar and wonder how to manage which calendars display across the different devices you sync to. Google has provided an easy and straight-forward way of doing this if you are set up through Exchange ActiveSync. It is as simple to do, as following the steps below.

Setup Google Sync on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch; go into Safari and point it to m.google.com/sync in order to manage your devices.

Then you have to select your desired device. If you have ever synced other devices, you will see them all displayed with a time-stamp of your last sync.

After you tap the device you would like to manage, you will have an opportunity to select any calendar you want synced to your device. If you want your device not to be synced with any calendar, you can de-select them as well.

Tap ‘Save’ and you will be taken back to your device selection. Then open up your calendar application and allow it a moment to sync up your new calendars. If you tap ‘Calendar’ at the top-left, you will be able to see a list of all calendars and verify that only the specific calendars you selected have been synced.

Now you have full control over your mobile calendar! Enjoy!

Save Your Time And Effort!

You can save time and effort entering common information like name, email, phone number and well used phrases with setting up shortcuts. Did you know iOS 5 has a special feature that allows you define a word or phrase to a key combination; the feature is called “Shortcuts.” It is very easy to set, just follow the steps below.

Go to settings, click on General, and click on Keyboard. You will see a predefined shortcut which is triggered by tipping omw; here you need to click on Add New Shortcut. Choose a username, email address or phrase you use a lot and type in. To trigger the shortcut, choose a letter combination. Just hit the Save button, now it is stored for future use, then you can add as many as you wish. When you are finished go to General, tap Keyboard and you will see there a list of your shortcuts.

As for Notes, open up an application that you can type into. Type in the shortcut one of your phrases; as you see here are the whole phrases open up in a bubble below.  If you hit the Space Bar, the whole phrase appears…

Is not this a good way not to waste your time and nerves?
By the way, if you want us to review some features of your iPhone, do not hesitate to let us in comments.

Data Hungry iPhone 4S

Could you imagine that the iPhone 4S demands twice as much data as iPhone 4 and three times as much as iPhone 3G? A study, released in Jan-6 by U.K.-based telecom network technology firm Arieso, looked at data usage across a variety smartphones and connected devices. It claims that iPhone 4S users are the hungriest data consumers in iPhone family.

The Arieso study, “Recent Smartphone Trends & the Extreme Data User” reveals a trend that each new device is more data hungry than the last. According to it, one thing is obvious - capacity issues plaguing mobile operators around the world will worsen in 2012.

The most significant change in users behavior has been catalyzed after introduction of the iPhone 4S. Its users download 2.76 times as much data as users of the iPhone 3G!

Author of the study Dr. Michael Flanagan commented: “The introduction of increasingly sophisticated devices, coupled with growing consumer demand, is creating unrelenting pressure on mobile networks. The capacity crunch is still a very real threat for mobile operators, and it looks set to only get harder in 2012 the mobile industry needs new investment and new approaches to boost network performance and manage the customer experience”.

Are you a little bit surprised/frustrated to know iPhone 4S consumes more than other models?

5 hidden tricks of iPhone you should know!

iOS has tons of hidden features that are not obvious at first glance. Things are layered in iPhones and you need some guide to know more about your phone. The tips below are not for them who are in touch with iOS, however the post will surely help newbies. If you do not think this is for you, you will probably know someone who the tips are for.

Meet the application switcher. If you have had an application open recently, instead of heading back to the home screen, you can re-open it with double tapping the home button! You can see your most recently opened applications on the first page or even view your application history with scrolling to the right.

Close the broken applications. Sometimes applications break and you need to reset your device to unfreeze them but that is a tiring action to do, is not it? Here is the solution. Go to the home screen, double tap the home button, find the icon for the application you need to close and hold your finger on it for a few seconds. After this, re-launch the application from the home screen and it will work freshly.

Application switcher again. The application switcher is a great detail of the phone, although it is hided. With its help you can switch, close, slice, dice applications. On your iPhone it also gives you an opportunity to lock your screen orientation and even control (pause/play/go back/skip) tracks in whatever application is currently playing music.
To find it, double tap the home button and swipe to the right from the first page.

Find your notifications. Did you know that you can jump to any application that needs your attention? iOS keeps a list of your recent notifications. Just swipe down from the top of the display and bring down the notification drawer. There you will find your unread texts, messages that your applications have queued up and other configurable widgets like weather, stocks, etc. However you can adjust what shows up in this drawer in Settings > Notifications.

Access the camera quickly. We have all been in a situation when we missed the chance of taking a photo in unrepeatable moments. While we get the phone out of pocket, unlock it, go to the home screen, launch the camera application and wait for the camera to boot up, the moment is gone. That is why we need quick access to the camera.
From the lock screen double tap the home button and choose a camera icon, appeared besides the unlock bar. Consider you do not even need to unlock the phone!

And the last trick for today – that is the bonus trick for you. Click here  and find a surprise for you!

Did you know that 40% of grandparents live over one hour away from their grandchildren, or that 50% of the over 75s live alone. What about the fact that last Christmas Day, half a million  over 75s spent the day alone without contact with another human? Though these statistics paint a dark, depressing picture, this is the very reason why the Hugmail app has been developed. Facebook App for iPhone Updated

Facebook has just released an update of its popular iPhone application, to version 4.1. The update includes Timeline Access and Faster Photo load. Now to view the new profile Timeline, Subscribes and Subscriptions, you can pop-over notifications and add people to friend lists.

It is an important thing to note that now you can load the photos faster. The photos displayed on Mobile Timeline looks beautiful and the interface is not cluttered. When you view photo albums via Mobile Timeline, only 4 albums are displayed initially, but you can swipe them to view additional thumbnails as well.

Consider that changing the privacy settings of the posts and editing a friend list directly is unavailable. However by clicking on the Friends button beneath someone’s Timeline cover, you can add them to friend list or unfriend with them. This is useful if you want to restrict some friends’ access to your content.

When the timeline is on, the notifications, messages and friend requests load in partial screen popovers instead of separate full screen. This is a good way to make it easier and faster returning to the previously viewed screens.

An updated Timeline gives you an opportunity to filter you news feed. This means: the news feed will show stories from a specific friend list. A button above the news feed offers you an easy way to filter friends, enabling you to highlight the desired updates.

Facebook update is accessible  for iPhones since Dec-18. Facebook states that it will soon arrive for iPad as well.

iPhone SMS Apps for Christmas

With the upsurge of social networking, SMS conversations are becoming more and more occasional. Despite the numerous options for free communication, (like Skype, Facebook  and other social networking apps offer), text messaging still stays to be something more private, and is still used for some special and truly remarkable events.

Texting with iPhone has numerous advantages over other smartphones, as there are tons of apps that make the process more convenient and secure.  We have already discussed some apps that make text messaging quicker, easier and much funnier, such as:

If you’re our loyal reader, you should also be aware of EMOJI icons  and should already know how to keep iPhone SMS conversations in secret. As the holiday season has almost come, you definitely will have to send over text messages all through your contact list. We think it’s quite timely to share some more SMS apps related to Christmas, to make this process less boring for you and more fun for your recipients.

  • Christmas Wishes SMS  – containing almost 200 readymade wishes for every person important to you, grouped in thematic categories.
  • Xmas New Year SMS - containing hundreds of greeting text messages, with constant update for FREE.
  • Winter SMS  - Christmas and New Year – offering wide collection of the cutest SMS for Christmas and New Year.
  • SMS-BOX: Christmas Time! Lite - a massive collection of Xmas texts and cards to send your loved ones, friends, colleagues, relatives and everyone you wish, by means of SMS, MMS or email.
  • Christmas SMS 2012  - offers a list of the best Internet Christmas messages, selected and classified by festivities and types.

This is all by now; please share your feedback about the apps once you've downloaded them, as most of the offered apps are not rated in iTunes yet, for reasonable causes- no one has actually used them as Christmas is yet still ahead!

Syria without iPhone

A branch of the Syrian Finance Ministry has officially banned using iPhones in the country. The motivation behind of the decision is to avoid sharing videos and news of the massive protests, ongoing in the country. The ban has occurred as soon as the Syrian government was increasingly isolated by the West and its Arab neighbors.

Customs Department of the Syrian Finance Ministry affirmed: "The use of the iPhone must be prohibited due to the forbidden features that have been banned by the general telecommunications company. (…) This is a legal ruling and iPhones will be seized."

Journalists and not only they used the device to spread visuals of a violent crackdown of antigovernment protesters. Syria has barred foreign media from the country but visual information has spread easily. The situation is very serious because while rebellion 4.000 people have died since March.

In November the activists launched an application for iPhone and iPad. The application is called Souria Wa Bas and it means “Syria that is all.” With the application’s help, its users could share news, photos, videos; they could locate places of opposition hot spots too. The application was intensively used for jokes about Assad also.

Consider that Steve Jobs’s father is Syrian and we can affirm that his great invention is banned in his own country. As for his father, he has come out against the government and said: "I am in solidarity with the Syrian people; I reject the brutality and killing that the Syrian authorities are committing against the unarmed Syrian people. And because silence is participation in this crime, I declare my participation in the Syrian sit-in on YouTube."

Social network is used while rebellion as well. Some protests were organized with Facebook’s and Twitter’s help. It was used for spreading some confidential information too. Maybe banning the social networks is next step in Syrian Government’s time-table.

Free iPhone Ringtones

Never underestimate the importance of your ringtone! This is a proven fact that the music we like affects our mood positively, while the unattractive ringtone subconsciously irritates us and leads to stress and depression.

Ringtones on iPhones have nothing to boast about. The choice is quite limited, and moreover, it is not permitted to set your favorite mp3 as your ringing tone! The reason is that Apple does not support ringtones to be in mp3 format, and for setting your favorite track as a ringtone, you need to convert it from .mp3 to .m4r format and then add as a ringing tone from your iTunes account. Quite boring, isn’t it? Especially nowadays, when your favorite artists mange to record sometimes 10 singles a day!

Don’t worry, we’ve found a solution for this problem! Fortunately there is quite a comfortable service available, and to your surprise, IT IS FREE! Free Ringtones  does not only offer a wide variety of songs, but allows you to choose between .mp3 and .m4r formats and download your favorite tracks in seconds! The website is extremely easy to navigate, and offers all the possible searching options – animal sounds, international songs or movie soundtracks, Bollywood themes or just funny ringtones! You can find the latest songs via the artist names, or just look for it in “Popular” category. Despite eliminating the need to manually convert the tones from one format to another, Free Ringtones offers additional services as well, such as a nicely-arranged huge wallpaper gallery  and even allows you to make your own ringtone ! And once again, everything FOR FREE!

Now you can change your ringtone as many times as you want! With Free Ringtones we assure you’ll always have your ringtone updated, and will always have something to boast about!

SIRI for only iPhone 4S

Some rumors have been spread that SIRI is available not for only iPhone 4S, but it works quite well on iPhone4 and iTouch 4 as well. The author of the rumor is an iPhone hacker Steven Troughton-Smith, who has tweeted that he had successfully ported SIRI to the older devices. The users of old devices were extremely happy because SIRI is the most wanted function of the phone form the very first moment it was introduced.

Apple’s official respond to this issue crushed dreams. Company’s e-mail to Michael Steeber, the iOS developer, clearly said that Apple has no current plan to implement SIRI into any other device:

“Engineering has provided the following feedback regarding this issue: SIRI only works on iPhone 4S and we currently have no plans to support older devices.”

The fact that there are Siri files on iPhone4, meaning that it may work for iPhone4 as well, however, doesn’t guarantee that intelligent voice assistant will come for iPhone 4.

Apple spent hundreds of millions of dollars for developing SIRI and after this did anyone really expect that Apple would support plans to offer it on older devices?! It’s more than obvious that if Siri rolls out suitable for older devices as well, the iPhone 4S sales will be cannibalized!

Is not it necessary to have iPhone 4S for using SIRI?

An iPhone hacker Steven Troughton-Smith has Tweeted that he had successfully ported SIRI to the iPhone 4G and iPod touch 4G. Steven Troughton-Smith is an indie developer living in Ireland.
He has also shared a link below, in which it is clear how SIRI works on iPhone 4G.

The hack says: “Basically, I already had everything I needed to make it work. I had spent a lot of time mapping out in my head exactly how Siri works on the iPhone. All I needed was access to a jailbroken iPhone 4S to put my hunch to the test. It literally took no longer than 10 minutes to put all the pieces in place and perform our first test on my iPhone 4, and it was an instant success.”

SIRI on iPhone 4 can recognize spoken commands in both the standard SIRI view and the keyboard Dictation view. It also has the ability to speak back to the user.

Perhaps, the most important story is that there is no technical reason for Apple not to allow Siri to run on the iPhone 4 as well.  Why Apple is making Siri an iPhone 4S exclusive is still inexplicable. It still is not authenticating commands to its servers from iPhone 4 hardware.

Improvements of iPhone camera

Quality of iPhone camera improves from generation to generation. The photo collage shows how much the iPhone camera has improved since 2007.
The iPhone 4S is dramatically clearer and sharper than previous iPhone versions. Using separate focus and exposure in Camera+ on the iPhone 4 & 4S significantly helped create a more balanced exposure.

The device steadily improved from 3-megapixels, to 5-megapixels, with the iPhone 4S serving up an 8-megapixel sensor and dramatically improved lens technology.
