Apple: 1 Million iPhone 3Gs Sells And 10 Million App Store downloads In First Weekend

Apple announced that 1 million iPhone 3Gs were sold over opening weekend and 10 million App Store apps were downloaded.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs pointed out that the previous iPhone took 74 days to reach the same milestone.”So the new iPhone 3G is clearly off to a great start around the world The App Store is a grand slam, with a staggering 10 million applications downloaded in just three days," said Jobs."

There are currently about 800 applications available for download in the App Store, over 200 of which are free; at launch, there were about 550.

The iPhone 3G is now available in 21 countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the U.K. It goes on sale in france on July 17.
